Have you heard of Mi before? How about Xiaomi? Aaaah yes, now it rings a bell. Xiaomi is the third biggest smartphone company in the world, and it has finally hit the sunny shores of SA. But hold up, we need to explain why we call it Mi and what Xiaomi actually means. The word Xiaomi is ‘Little Rice’ in Mandarin, a staple in every Chinese household. And why do we call it Mi? ‘Cause it’s easier to pronounce and the logo looks pretty cool too.
So, why should the whole of SA be doing the happy dance about Mi being available here? Well, Mi’s philosophy is that just because you can’t necessarily afford a smartphone, does not mean you shouldn’t be able to own one. And they’ve done just that in China, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Brasil and now, here! Mi makes top-notch smartphones at a fraction of the price of its competitors. It’s incredible really.
And now, it’s time for us to introduce you to the two Mi smartphones, that are pretty much going to blow you away!
The Mi 4 is our shining little star. Not only is it a beauty, it is also quite the beast. It has a Snapdragon 801 2.5 GHz processor that can just bash out everything you throw at it and a non-scratch 5’’ IP5 Full HD 441 PPI Corning Concore Glass screen. (Try saying that three times fast).
Then there is the Redmi 2. This firecracker is a Dual-Sim, 4G LTE machine. You are not going to get a better phone than this at this price.
Oh, how rude of us. We never mentioned how much these guys cost. We’ve basically saved the best for last. The Mi 4 is only R3 799 and Redmi 2, R1 999. No catch. So, if you’re in the market for a new phone and you’re an android fanatic. Visit our site (link to site) or one of the following retailers (List of retailers) and join the Mi family. All are welcome
